State rural and municipal power providers and partners from throughout Colorado gathered at the CREA Energy Innovations Summit in Denver, Colorado. Organizations like Excel Energy, the Governor’s Energy Office, Colorado’s Public Utilities Commission, and Colorado energy innovators offered presentations and remarks about the state of the industry, its challenges and opportunities. Topics ranged from energy storage, natural gas, and micro-hydro, to transmission and new and enabling technologies in these sectors. The closing general session in the Denver Marriott Ballroom, moderated by Kent Singer, the Executive Director of Colorado Rural Electric Association, was titled “Colorado Innovators: A Conversation with Carol and Eddie Sturman.”

ICSAT 2011 brings together world renowned academics and automotive industry experts together under one roof.
The event provides attendees the opportunity to discuss current trends and
future challenges related to solutions for sustainable mobility. Distinguished
speakers include Eddie Sturman, co-founder and technology director of Sturman
Industries. Other speakers include executives from Volkswagen, BMW, IBM,
Duke University, Clemson University, and Germany.
The international conference will be hosted this year by Clemson University
International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) in Greenville, SC.
Co-host are the University of
Applied Sciences (UAS) Ingolstadt and the
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
The event
will take place April 5 through April 6, 2011.
ICSAT 2011 aims to draw special attention to research and practice focused on
new technologies and approaches capable of meeting the challenges to sustainable
mobility. International experts will address many areas of automotive

He says the engines we?ve been using in our cars for 100 years would be up to 50% more efficient if we simply replaced their cam-driven valves with digital technology. Emissions would be a lot cleaner, too.

In a speech delivered at the Art Center Summit 2009 in Pasadena California February 18, Amory Lovins offered a few thought-provoking comments – as usual. Lovins, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute (www.rmi.org), a world-renowned, non-partisan, efficiency ‘think-and-do tank” was addressing the topic of efficient goods transportation. Lovins stated that consumers must try to make themselves “indifferent to oil prices.” According to the WestStart-CALSTART Daily NewsNotes issued on February 18, 2009, Lovins “specifically cited technologies to watch, including Sturman Industries’ smart valves for engines, which Lovins says are ‘fast, small, cheap and digitally controlled.”
