INNAUGURAL WORLD CLEAN ENERGY AWARDS

 

Sturman Industries’ Camless Digital Engine was nominated for the first World Clean Energy Awards.  Sponsored by the Swiss-based Transatlantic21 Association, the award was “developed to honor mainstream applications of Clean Energy in seven categories. . .”  The Sturman Camless Digital Engine fits the Transport and Mobility category.  The program provides a prestigious global platform for recognizing and encouraging continued advancement in the field, setting new standards for applying clean energy solutions and alternatives . . .”

Impact:  “This nominee proved the feasibility of a technology deemed impossible by many.  Air-injection-based control of combustion was seen as impossible by major engine makers, domestic and international.  This nominee has shown that the perceived barriers are surmountable.”

Sustainability:  “The reduction of carbon dioxide in the environment and the reduction of the use of petroleum-based fuels is indisputable, with known social and economic impacts.  This opportunity is not just sustainable, but restorative.  It could enable geographically separated economies to create the fuels that make sense to grow as crops in each ecological environment, all converted to mechanical work in the same engine which could work in these varied geographic areas . . . and that is just the tip of the iceberg for benefits.”

The Sturman Camless Digital Engine was nominated by Amory Lovins, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute.   Newsweek has praised him as "one of the Western world's most influential energy thinkers"; and Car magazine ranked him the twenty-second most powerful person in the global automotive industry.  He founded the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) in 1982.

The Sturman Camless Digital Engine is designed to efficiently and affordably reduce emissions including particulate matter that are known to be contributing factors to asthma, lung cancer and stunted lung growth in children.  Health and life span improvements through improved air quality, reduced dependence on fossil fuels and reduced greenhouse gasses will also benefit each of us as individuals, as well as a global society.   Economically, cost savings may also be realized due to better individual health and a relative decrease in healthcare costs.   The Sturman Camless Digital Engine reduces emissions without costly aftertreatments by precisely controlling the combustion process itself.   Environmentally, the reduction on NOx, Particulate Matter and CO2 will help diminish greenhouse gasses that contribute to global warming and ozone creation.

 

Multi-fuel Compatibility

 

The Sturman Camless Digital Engine is very flexible, and allows the use of a variety of fuels like JP8, diesel and biodiesel.  The engine has been operating in the dynamometer using diesel and 97% biodiesel fuels.  This intelligent engine control system can optimally utilize the energy content of any fuel being utilized, enabling a wider variety of alternate fuels to be practical.  Dramatically reducing the world’s dependence on fossil fuels will benefit the globe environmentally, socially and individually.  Economic impacts may be realized through the use of the Sturman Camless Digital Engine running on biofuels made with agricultural products that may be grown all over the world.
